  • 29.06.2009

Two people died and two were injured in a plane crash in Krakow, southern Poland, Sunday.

The pilot of Cessna 172 was killed on the spot and one of the passengers died today in the hospital as a result of extensive body burns.

An aircraft was taking part in the Annual Aviation Picnic air show when it suddenly plummeted to the ground and crashed in a park area in the city centre.

Initial results from the investigation into the incident suggests that the plane had not gathered enough speed to clear blocs of housing in the area. The plane may also have been overloaded.

The small, Cessna 172 light aircraft is believed have finished taking part in the air show and was on its way back to Warsaw, where the craft was based. (pg/mg)
