- 29.06.2009
A clothes shop in Lodz, central Poland, is especially looking for Jehovah’s Witnesses to be shop assistants.
“They are honest, reliable and hard-working,” explains HR consultant from Occasion, a chain shop located in at Tesco supermarket in Lodz. “We used to have an employee who was a Jehovah’s witness who proved to be an excellent worker. He could manage to convince anyone to buy something in our shop.”
Others say that seeking and judging employees by their religious orientation is a breach of the Labour Code and other articles in the Polish Constitution.
“This is discrimination,” says Izabela Pilzys from HR Partners.
The head of Occasion denies this, calling it selection, not discrimination. (mg)
