• Opinion of Kaczynski on the rise

The most recent public opinion poll by CBOS show that trust in President Lech Kaczynski is the highest it has been in eight months with four percent considering the President’s work as ‘very good’ and 59 percent expressing criticism of him.

July polling shows that 27 percent of those asked consider the President to be doing ‘good’ work, five percent higher than numbers from June. That means that the latest controversial issue that Kaczynski has taken a firm stance on – the media reform bill to fund public media tom the state coffers – has not hurt him.

The CBOS poll results are the most favourable the head of state has enjoyed in eight months – only 24 percent of respondents consider Kaczynski to work ‘decidedly poorly’ at his post.

Poland’s lower house of parliament fares worse this month as the July opinion poll shows that sixty nine percent of respondents are unsatisfied with the work of the Sejm. Only one percent are ‘decidedly satisfied’ with the legislative body.

The poll took place between 2-8 July over a representative sampling of 1,125 adults Polish citizens. (mmj)
