Nine more people have been confirmed to carry the A/H1N1 virus bringing the count of swine flu victims to 90 in Poland, according to the Deputy Chief Health Inspector, Przemyslaw Bilinski.

The majority of the flu cases have been treated and are stable.

The A/H1N1 virus is a new strain of flu whose symptoms are similar to the common seasonal flu, including fevers, chills, fatigue, couch, sore throat, runny nose and loss of appetite.

Approximately 160 countries around the world have seen cases of swine flu and about 800 people have died from the virus. The World Health Organization announced that manufacturers expect to have vaccines prepared by September against the flu.

In 2007, 374,041 people were infected by common flu in Poland, according to statistics from the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate. (mmj)
