The Days of the Arabian Horse opens in the Janow Podlaski stables. A national parade of horses is to be held during which the champions are to be selected from horses bred at Janow Podlaski, Bialka and Michalowice stud farms.
The Days of the Arabian Horse coincides with the annual Pride of Poland auction held in the most prestigious of Polish stud farms. Thirty-nine horses will be put up for auction. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the auction, the organizers have prepared a special offer for bidders. For the first time, bidders will have the chance to win an unborn foal. The winner will choose the stallion, which will impregnate the mare Pianissima, a world champion show horse.
Janow Podlaski, eastern Poland, is the country’s oldest horse stud farm. It is world famous for breeding purebred Arabians. The Pride of Poland Auction gathers breeders from around the world. Among the frequent attendees are Rolling Stones’ drummer Charlie Watts with his wife Shirley.
The Pride of Poland auction starts on Sunday at 5 pm, featuring horses from Janow, as well as Michałów and Bialka, and some private owners. In 2008, 1 million 125 thousand euro was paid for the 13-year-old champion mare Kwestura, bought by a bidder from the Middle East. (adb/mmj)
