Striking nurses at the Specialized Hospital in Radom are continuing their action, with the protest entering its sixth day.
Today the hospital’s director is expected to address the province governor with a request to temporarily close or evacuate some departments. The hospital is only admitting patients whose life is at risk.
The nurses had warned they would step up the strike if negotiations failed. Sunday’s meeting between the hospital management, the nurses and the city authorities did not resolve the conflict, with the nurses rejecting the management’s offer.
The nurses are demanding substantial pay raises, however the hospital management argues that this is not possible as the clinic is already severely in debt. (ss/mmj)
