Poland's prime minister, Donald Tusk flew in to the Ghazni base in Afghanistan on Armed Forces Day following the tragic death of Captain Daniel Ambroziński, who was killed in a Taliban attack in Ajristan last week.
During the ceremony celebrating the day of the Polish army held at the base, a half-raised Polish flag was draped with a black pall in honour of the dead soldier.
The prime minister declared the Polish contingent will soon acquire additional equipment. He announced that three more MI-17 helicopters will reach Afghanistan in the upcoming days, while 17 armoured vehicles will be provided by the end of the year.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk added the government would simplify bidding procedures so as to facilitate the purchase of crucial military equipment. "We will change procedures, even if it means passing a resolution by the council of ministers to decide on an immediate purchase of suitable equipment and despatching it here to Ghazni," said PM Tusk.
