• Supreme Court to rule on EP election complaints
  • 26.08.2009

Poland's Supreme Court is expected to rule on the validity of the European Parliament election today.

Voters have filed 43 complaints against the validity of the election held June 7 this year,  though half of the cases were discontinued and charges in many others have been deemed to be unfounded.

The protests included complaints from the blind and visually impaired, who were not able to place their vote in the election. One man, who was sick, complained about the inaccessibility of distance voting.

According to Polish law, if the Supreme Court rules the election invalid, it also has to decide about holding another ballot. (jn/pg)
