Faulty electronics was the probable cause of the crash of the Belarusian Su-27 at the Radom air show on Sunday, reports Russian media. Due to poor funding of the Belarusian air force, spare parts often bought from Third World countries without the supervision of the aircraft authorities, a source from within the Sukhoi company told the Izvestia newspaper.
"The video recording shows the pilot tried to turn on the afterburner. For a time smoke from the engines became more dense, but then became paler than normal. Machine simply had not enough power and fell to earth,” the source said.
The accident, which killed both pilots onboard, took place during the second day of at the Radom Air Show. Belarusian Su-27 fighter jet crashed about 100 meters from buildings and a poppy field.
