Government spokesman Pawel Gras paid condolences to the family and friends of the Polish soldier killed in Afghanistan on Friday.

The soldier was killed and his five colleagues wounded, when a Polish convoy was attacked with home-made explosives about 3 km from the base, towards which it was heading.

The victim is the 11th Polish soldier killed in Afghanistan.

Recently the government decided to provide modernized equipment for Polish troops in that country. Currently, there are abou two thousand Poles on a mission there, working in the Ghazni province. (jn)
