  • 18.09.2009

A virtual museum dedicated to the Katyn massacre will be launched on the internet as of April, next year.

A special agreement was signed by the chairman of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) and the head of Warsaw’s Polish Army Museum.

The museum is to be ready for the 70th anniversary of the Katyn massacre in 1940, when over 20,000 Polish officers were murdered by Soviet NKVD officers.

The museum’s collection is to include photographs and details of the victims as well as historical documents, which will be made openly assessable to the site’s users.

As part of the project a separate website called The Golgotha of the East will also be launched. It will be devoted to the fate of Poles sent into exile to Siberia and other regions of the Soviet Union. (di)
