Warsaw’s underworld has joined hands to create a federation of criminal gangs under the leadership of Macin K., also known as the Belmondziak.
Police have been unable to track down Belmondziak, who has recently been named the leader of this newly formed criminal federation by the captains of the Praga mafia, City Centre gang, and by the remnants of the former Zoliborz and Mokotowska mafia and by groups from the Warsaw suburbs like Marki, Wolomin and Piaseczno.
“The criminals are starting to work in the field of drugs and entertainment, hoping not to catch our attention […]. Most victims are not interested cooperating with law enforcement authorities,” claims Sebastian Michalkiewicz, chief of the metropolitan board of the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The federation operating under Belmondziak takes tributes for stolen cars and sells drugs and high-value stolen goods. Criminal informants have told police that a required ‘concession’ payment amounts to between 15-30 percent of profits and, in exchange, the tribute receives guarantees of protection and a steady supply of narcotics.
According to Michalkiewicz, the gang federation’s days are numbered as the CBI is concentrating forces and resources on hunting down the cities top criminals. (mmj)
