- Cimoszewicz gains from Blackjack scandal
- 09.10.2009
In a head-to-head race for the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Donald Tusk would lose out to former PM Włodzimierz Cimoszewicz.
The poll by GfK Polonia shows that Prime Minister Tusk has been badly damaged by the recent Blackjack scandal, which saw mass resignations from the government this week. Donald Tusk would only get 37 percent of the vote in a second round presidential election, if were held this Sunday, while left wing former PM Cimoszewicz would get 38 percent.
Cimoszewicz’s lead over rivals would be even larger if the run off was with incumbent president, Lech Kaczynski. In the second round of a election presidential election - when the race is reduced to two candidates - then Cimoszewicz would get 53 percent to Kaczynski’s 28.
If Tusk went head-to-head with Kaczynski, however, then the prime minister would get 45 percent to the president’s 28 percent.
The poll was conducted over the telephone from a sample of 500. (pg)
