- Schetyna to lead Platform in parliament?
- 09.10.2009
The ruling Civic Platform is to choose a new leader of its parliamentary party, Friday, after Zbigniew Chlebowski’s resignation following the so-called Blackjack scandal.
It is likely that Grzegorz Schetyna - who was also forced to resign this week in connection with the scandal as interior minister and vice-PM - will be elected as the centre-right party’s new boss in parliament.
Rafał Grupiński, who decided to quit his post at the PM’s Office, will be Schetyna’s deputy.
The troubled party is also to hold a national council following the Blackjack scandal - which saw mass resignations this week - well as come up with a timetable for elections within the party at all levels. Prime Minister and party leader Donald Tusk is expected to attend the meeting. (jb)
