The 9th Papal Day is under way across Poland, as concerts, conferences and Masses are held in honour of John Paul II.
 
The Papal Day, under the motto “John Paul II – Pope of  Freedom”, takes place on the Sunday preceding the 16th October, the date when Karol Wojtyła was elected as Pontiff in 1978. (jb)
