- Warsaw airport paralysed by snow
- 14.10.2009
Heavy snow and a faulty landing system caused flight delays and cancellations at the Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport.
“Planes which have less fuel and cannot wait until the landing system is repaired, are being directed to other airports,” said airport’s spokesman Jakub Mielniczuk.
The airport in the central city of Lodz is ready to receive additional flights and transport passengers to train and bus stations.
Due to severe weather conditions planes departing from Warsaw are usually delayed and some of the flights were cancelled.
Poland has been ravaged by unusual winter-type weather for October, with high winds causing flood fears on coastal districts and many roads have become impassable. (mg)
