• Tusk still in lead for president
  • 29.10.2009
Despite numerous accusations of corruption surrounding his government, Prime Minister Donald Tusk maintains a clear lead in opinion polls.

If the presidential elections - scheduled for next year - took place this week, Donald Tusk would receive 21 percent of the vote in the first round, according to a poll by GfK Polonia.

Former prime minister Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz would pick up the left wing vote with 16 percent and the incumbent, President Lech Kaczynski would receive 12 percent support.

Founder the Tusk’s Civic Platform party, Andrzej Olechowski is an outside bet on 5 percent.

But what could be significant is that 27 percent of respondents told the pollsters that they had to yet to make up their mind who to vote for. (pg)
