- New holiday for Poles on Epiphany?
- 24.11.2009
The ruling Civic Platform party wants to create a new bank holiday on Epiphany, 6 January.
The government, however, also wants to remove a regulation from the labour code, according to which Poles can take a day off during the week if a national holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday.
Civic Platform MPs are going to forward the draft legislation to parliament next week, intending it to be passed into law by 6 January 2010.
However, due to a long process of labour code revision, it is more likely that Poles will enjoy a bank holiday in January only in 2011. (mg)
