Erol Muzawazi, a student of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, southern Poland broke the Guinness World Record by delivering an almost 130-hour lecture, which finished Monday afternoon.
The student, from Zimbabwe, wanted to both establish a new record and draw public attention to the problems of Africa. Muzawazi was also collecting money for a scientific trip to Africa.
Muzawazi was talking about democracy and Africa since last Wednesday.
“The lecture I have just completed was my fourth and last attempt in the battle against time and my own weaknesses,” said the victor.
Over 50 students of various nationalities took part in the project as the most important rule is that two people are required to be in the room to hear the lecture at all times. Erol has already set the Guinness record three times in the category.
Muzawazi's previous record-setting lectures were beat by a professor from India who delivered a 120-hour lecture two years ago. (di/mmj)
