• New evidence in Olewnik murder case
  • 21.12.2009

Blood traces found in Krzysztof Olewnik’s house indicate that more people were involved in his abduction and later murder in 2003 than originally thought .

Police from the coastal city of Gdansk together with officers from the Central Investigative Bureau have made another search of Krzysztof Olewnik’s house and found blood stains which indicate that Slawomir Kosciuk and Robert Pazik, who were convicted for his abduction and murder six years ago, were accompanied by one other person.

Krzysztof Olewnik, the son of a millionaire businessman was abducted in October 200I and ransom was demanded for his release. In July 2003 the abductors were given 300,000 euro but Krzysztof Olewnik was still not freed. His body was later found and the post mortem concluded that he was tortured and brutally murdered a month after the kidnappers received the money.

Three men convicted in Olewnik’s case later committed suicide in prison.

Police now think that when the men came to Olewnik’s house to abduct him, a fight broke out. As a result one of the offenders was wounded and his blood was found in several places including on a couch.

Last summer police searched the house of Wojciech Franiewski, who masterminded Olewnik’s abduction and murder, and found a notebook, which suggested that more people might have been involved in the crime.

Parliamentary commission investigating the abduction and murder is now underway.  (mg)
