The work of the first Polish e-court will be officially inaugurated with the participation of Justice Minister Krzysztof Kwiatkowski at noon today.
Located in Lublin, eastern Poland, the court will investigate simple civil cases anad minor crimes.
The e-court will formally constitute a division of the district court in Lublin. Among its employees will be one judge and 31 court officials.
According to initial estimates, Poland’s first e-court will examine about 400,000 cases in the next twelve months.
Artur Ozimek, the spokesman of the district court in Lublin says each petition will be considered within a few days after being submitted, while the whole process will be quicker and cheaper. It will also bring the Justice Ministry tsavings of about fifteen million zloty per year.
Similar e-courts are already operating in Germany, Great Britain and the Czech Republic. (di)
