The New Year weekend was the safest on Polish roads in years, informs  the Polish police headquarters.

On Sunday, there was not a single fatality on Poland’s roads, in spite of heavy traffic and very bad driving conditions in freezing conditions.

Altogether, between December 31 and January 3, 222 accidents were reported in which 18 people died and 322 were hurt.

The statistics are far better than last year’s although police also reported almost a thousand drunk drivers. (ek)
