• Tremor buries miner in Silesia

One miner has been buried and seven injured after an earth tremor rocked the Rudna mine in Polkowice, Upper Silesia. 

 

A rescue team is trying to dig out the man who was buried 1100 metres underground. The miner is alive and rescuers have been in contact with him. It will take several minutes to unearth him. 

 

Other miners with head injuries has been transported to hospitals.  

 

The tremor in the Rudna mine was quite powerful. The mining and metallurgy company KGHM Polska Miedz estimates that it reached 7 points on a 10-point scale. (mg)
