• Civic Platform maintain huge lead
  • 16.01.2010

The ruling Civic Platform lead the main opposition party by over 20 percentage points.

PM Donald Tusk’s Civic Platform boasts high support but general elections do not attract much public interest. The party can count on a 49 percent support were general elections held this month.

A recent survey by the TNS OBOP pollster shows that the opposition Law and Justice would enter Parliament with 28 percent - parties must gain five percent to enter the Sejm - Democratic Left Alliance which would gather 12 percent of the vote.

The junior coalition partner, the Polish Peasant Party would not cross the threshold with only 4 percent of respondents declaring support.

In comparison with December’s data Civic Platform’s ratings remain stable while Law and Justice gained one percentage point.

The poll showed however that not many Poles are ready to take part in the elections, with only 28 percent currently declaring they would go to the polls. (ab)
