• Tusk meets Komorowski to talk elections
  • 22.01.2010

PM Donald Tusk met with Bronislaw Komorowski on Wednesday night to discuss Civic Platform’s candidate for the presidential elections in September.

According to today’s Super Express, Tusk - who met with the Speaker of the Sejm and the party’s most senior politician met for 40 minutes - has yet to decide whether to run for office or not.

"Tusk knows perfectly well that he can no longer wait. It must finally be decided whether to stand or not. Bronislaw is the most serious alternative,” a Civic Platform insider told the newspaper.

The dilemma comes from a political conundrum - to fight for the presidency, which opinion polls say he will win; or to wait and fight in a later general election and win a majority in parliament and real power.

In an opinion poll by the CBOS pollsters published on Wednesday, Donald Tusk is on 53 percent support, up six percent from last month. Forty three percent said they were satisfied with his work as prime minister. (pg)
