An explosion of a furnace at the Dolna Odra plant in the north-west has killed one person.

Three more of the personnel on duty have sustained injuries. The building with the furnace has collapsed as well as two nearby workshops.

Rescue teams have been called in immediately to the scene, says spokesman for the county police department Michal Kubiak: “One person was found dead, three are wounded. The one with most serious burns was rushed by ambulance to the hospital in Gryfice. Search continues for other people who might have been in the area.”
