Rescuers failed to save the life of a tourist, Sunday, who was buried under an avalanche in the Tatra Mountains.

The avalanche happened at around 16.30 CET in the area near Kasprowy Wierch in the west if the mountain range and known for its famous cable car.

Medics could not resuscitate the tourist. A rescue helicopter could not reach the area of the tragedy due to poor visibility.

The rescue services say that a moderate danger of more avalanches remains. (pg)
