Bronislaw Komorowski has admitted that he would like to run in the presidential elections later this year.
“I have presidential ambitions, but a candidate will emerge after internal party consultation,” Komorowski, speaker of the lower house of parliament and prominent member of Civic Platform, said Wednesday.
He told reporters that the process of finding a candidate - after Prime Minister Tusk declared last Thursday that he will not be running in the ballots in the autumn - should not create conflict and division within Civic Platform.
The qualifications for running in the election should be based on, "political calculations - who has a better chance of winning, who has more experience."
Prime Minister Donald tusk said on Monday that, realistically, finding a candidate from within Civic Platform was a two-horse race - between Komorowski and Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski. (pg)
