The Polish Peasant’s Party (PSL) is likely to go beyond the threshold in the 2011 parliamentary elections, a recent poll states.
According to a poll conducted by PBS on 5-7 February, four parties would take seats in the parliament after next year's elections.
The ruling Civic Platform (PO) would gain 48 percent of votes, the opposition Law and Justice party (PiS) 28 percent, the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD) 8 percent and the Polish Peasant’s Party (PSL) 7 percent.
The Polish Peasant’s Party’s results come as a surprise, say reactions to the poll. At the end of 2009, opinion polls showed that the Civic Platform’s coalition partner would not go beyond the 5-percent threshold and take any seats in the parliament. (mg/jb)
