• Civic Platform to hold presidential candidate ballot
  • 25.02.2010

The ruling Civic Platform party will hold an internal ballot on who will be their presidential candidate for this year’s elections, with results announced on March 27.

The ballot will start at the end of the next week and Civic Platform MPs will have the opportunity to vote till 25 March.

Civic Platform decided to hold the ballot after PM Donald Tusk withdrew from the presidential race earlier this month. Speaker of the lower house of parliament Bronislaw Komorowski and foreign minister Radoslaw Sikorski have emerged as the top two choices to represent the party in autumn presidential elections. Komorowski has received support from former president Lech Walesa and former foreign minister Wladyslaw Bartoszewski. (pg/mg)
