• Jean Michel Jarre to oxygenate Spodek
  • 01.03.2010

The legendary French musician Jean Michel Jarre is billed to play at the Spodek venue in the Silesian city of Katowice this evening.

The concert kicks off the new “2010” tour of the French electronic musician.

This is not the first time Jean Michel Jarre has played in Poland. One memorable performance of the musician was in Gdansk on the 25th anniversary of the creation of the Solidarity Trade Union that went onto topple Communism.

The artist has always held Poland close to his heart, as he told Polish Radio:

“All my life I have had a special connection with Poland, […] even when [my music] was not allowed behind the Iron Curtain, the first letter of encouragement I received was from Poland, both saying that my music was a symbol of evasion, of escape, and of freedom and liberty…”

The artist is especially known for his flamboyant live acts, breaking the Guinness World Record four times for putting on the largest ever concerts globally. The concert starts at 8pm, but tickets were already sold out a few weeks ago, such is Jarre’s popularity in Poland. (jb/pg)
