Emergency service in Wloclawek, north of Warsaw, are closely watching water levels on the Vistula river rise to almost four and a half meters, dangerously near flood levels.
The heavy snow which fell over previous months is thawing and the flood alarm will be raised if water levels reach five meters.
The local authority has ordered that electricity be disconnected in nearby allotment buildings as a precaution.
The level of the Vistula river in the Lublin region in the south of the country continues to rise. today will still grow. A flood wave has subsided in the Malopolska area, however.
A recent return of below freezing temperatures has slowed the thaw but authorities are remaining on alert. (pg)
