Sixty percent of those who vote Civic Platform support Bronislaw Komorowski as their candidate for president, finds a survey by Gfk Polonia opinion pollsters.
The opinion poll puts the Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament significantly ahead of his rival Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, who received 35 percent.
Komorowski is even more popular with men (68 percent) than woman Civic Platform voters (53 percent). Sikorski has more female support (40 percent) than males (28 percent).
Jaroslaw Gowin, a supporter of Sikorski in the party primary, is suspicious whether the preferences of Civic Platform voters are the same as those of the 45,000 paid up party members. “This is the first poll showing a considerable advantage Bronislaw Komorowski. However, guided by intuition, I believe that the results of primaries will be much more even than the survey shows,” he told Rzeczpospolita.
The survey was teken over the phone from a sample of 500. (pg)
