Nine people in Krakow have been arrested and charged with trafficking narcotics worth up to 18 million zloty (4.6 million euro).
The Krakow Prosecutor General issued a warrant for the arrests, which took place Monday morning.
“According to our evidence, the drugs were produced in other European Union countries and smuggled into Poland,” stated investigator Marek Welna.
The gang operated largely between December 2008 – July 2009, smuggling over 5.1 million ecstasy tablets worth about 15.3 million zloty; 10.5 kg of cocaine worth about 1.5 million zloty; at least 70 kg of marijuana worth about 1.4 million zloty and 55 kg of amphetamines, worth about 825,000 zloty.
