Police have detained a 31-year-old male from the Silesian region of Miekinia, south west Poland, suspected of stealing 7,000 chicken eggs.

The man is accused of having sold the eggs to locals for competitively low prices.

Local police have succeeded in securing 2,000 of the eggs and returning them to the proper owners, says press spokesperson Magdalena Kruze from Wroclaw.

The 31-year-old has been actively stealing eggs since December from various chicken farms in the region.

The thief is currently being held in ‘arrest’ for 3 months and faces up to 5 years behind bars if convicted. (mmj)
