• Attorney General takes office
  • 31.03.2010

Andrzej Seremet has officially began his term as Attorney General, thereby separating the post from the Justice Ministry.

This decision brings Poland closer to the legal structure of most democratic countries, allowing the Attorney General’s office to separate itself from the more political role of Justice Minister.

"Nobody will ever say again that a decision by an attorney general was made under pressure," said Justice Minister Krzysztof Kwiatkowski.

Andrzej Seremet intends to change the unfavourable reputation of the office, and has already announced changes in staff, looking to employ new personnel free from political agendas. (ab/pg)
