Former president Lech Walesa thinks the decision of Jaroslaw Kaczynski – twin brother of the late Lech Kaczynski who died in the Smolensk air disaster – to stand in June's election is a mistake.
The Solidarity icon criticised the decision of the Law and Justice party leader to run in the lections will mean certain defeat.
“Putting him up [for election] is wishing him ill. I’m absolutely convinced of it. In spite of everything, we were once on one side of [the struggle with the communists] and we had our successes. So I’m not against him, but this campaign means defeat and why should anyone wish him that,” he said.
Lech Walesa has already said he will support Civic Platform’s candidate Bronisław Komorowski in the elections, starting June 20. (ek)
