A 46-year-old handbag thief from Warsaw has been brought to justice by two sisters aged 67 and 70.

In mid-March the elder one of the sisters had her handbag snatched. She remembered the face of the thief and several weeks later recognized him in the street when she grabbed his coat and started to shout for help. The man managed to free himself and tried to hide among the buildings.

His nemesis however took note of where he had gone and, with the help of her younger sister, patrolled the area waiting for him to come out again. When he did, in the company of another man, the two pensioners called the police for reinforcements.

Altogether, they detained the handbag thief and another man who was avoiding a 10-month prison sentence. (ek)
