• Mieczysław Cieniuch appointed new chief of staff

General Mieczysław Cieniuch has been formally appointed as the new head of the joint chiefs of staff of the Polish Army.

 

He replaces General Gągor who was killed in the crash of the presidential place last month. General Cieniuch received his nomination from Acting Head of State Bronislaw Komorowski at a ceremony at the Presidential Palace.

 

General Cieniuch is fifty nine year-old. His latest post was Poland’s representative on NATO and European Union military committees in Brussels. (mk)
