The ruling Civic Platform would gain 39.6 percent of votes, the opposition Law and Justice 35 percent, should parliamentary elections were held today.
According to a survey conducted by the Homo Homini institute for Polish Radio two other parties would cross the threshold the Democratic Left Alliance with a 8.3 percent support and the Polish Peasant Party with 6.6.
Marcin Duma from the Homo Homini Institute underlines that such results give no possibilities for a majority government. “There is no required majority and the only parties which have enough support allowing them to form a coalition government are Law and Justice and the Civic Platform. The presence of other groupings within the Parliament remains unchanged”.
Readiness to go to the polls is declared by 61.3 percent of the respondents, 28.2 say they will not participate in the elections while 10.6 percent remain undecided. According to political analyst Radoslaw Markowski these results may change with the approach of the elections but they clearly point that only two parties count on the political scene in Poland
“Law and Justice gained and Civic Platform lost but these are only percents, which do not necessarily mean that there is a new, bigger electorate of the Law and Justice. It may be that only less people support Civic Platform".
Saturday presidential survey conducted by the Homo Homini Instite showed that there is much more interest in electing the head of state than voting for a party. Over 65.5 percent of the respondents stated they will take part in the presidential elections scheduled for June 20th. (ab)
