The Parliament Office has revealed financial statements of the main candidates for president, with the richest being, by some way, independent candidate Andrzej Olechowski.

Andrzej Olechowski’s fortune amounts to 17 million zloty (4 million euro).

Savings

Andrzej Olechowski managed to accumulate 2.7 million zloty (660,000 euro) on deposit accounts and Civic Platform’s Bronislaw Komorowski 140,000 zloty (34,000 euro), 1,300 USD and 400 euro. The Law and Justice’s Jaroslaw Kaczynski has also a nest egg – his savings amount to 110,000 zloty (27,000 euro). The Polish Peasant’s Party’s Waldemar Pawlak and the Democratic Left Alliance’s Grzegorz Napieralski have 75,000 zloty (18,000 euro) and 63,000 zloty (15,500 euro) on bank account.

Apart from savings candidates also have taken out loans. Bronislaw Komorwski’s debt amounts to 134,500 zloty (33,000 euro), Napieralski’s – 25,000 zloty (6,000 euro) and Pawlak’s – 12,000 zloty (3,000 euro).

Real estate

Andrzej Olechowski owns two houses – in the Tatra Mountains and in the Silesian Beskids – and up to five apartments in Warsaw. The properties are worth about 6.5 million zloty (1.6 million euro). Bronislaw Komorowski owns two apartments in Warsaw, a summer house in Buda Ruska, north-eastern Poland, and a building lot, all worth almost 3 million zloty (740,000 euro). Jaroslaw Kaczynski owns one-sixth of a 165-metre house, Grzegorz Napieralski – 48-metre apartment and Waldemar Pawlak 27-ha farm.

Cars

Bronislaw Komorowski and Andrzej Olechowski both own two cars but Olechowski’s vehicles are more expensive. The independent candidate owns Volvo XC70 and Mercedes A150 and the acting president Fiat Punto and Volvo V70. The Democratic Left Alliance’s Grzegorz Napieralski owns Citroen C4 Picasso and the Polish Peasant’s Party’s leader Waldemar Pawlak Skoda Fabia. The Law and Justice’s candidate Jaroslaw Kaczynski does not have a car. (mg)
