• Poles emotional like Italians, claims poll
  • 01.06.2010

Poles argue, cry, laugh and scream as if they were hot tempered Italians, a new poll claims.

Fifty six percent of Polish men show their emotions mainly while watching football matches or other sports events, according to a poll by the Pentor institute. Many (25 percent) express their anger while driving. Meanwhile, Polish women are easily moved to tears, especially during weddings (62 percent) and child births (60 percent). Half of women are touched when they watch romantic films.

Poles differ from other nations in the way they express their emotions. Three quarters do it through laughter and many through complaining.

To relieve emotions most Poles need a listener. Every third Pole drowns their sorrows in a glass of alcohol. Meanwhile, only 9 percent of Spaniards and 14 percent of Italians use alcohol as a relief.

The survey was conducted in April among 1,000 Poles. (mg)
