• Opposition narrows gap on ruling party

The opposition Law and Justice party is closing in at the heels of Civic Platform, shows a poll by the Homo Homini Institute.

 

Support for Civic Platform is falling and at the moment amounts to 41.9 percent. Meanwhile support for the opposition Law and Justice party has increased to 33.7 percent, is still going up. In the last two weeks the gap between the two rival parties has narrowed from 10 to 8 percentage points.

 

Behind Civic Platform and the Law and Justice party follow the Democratic Left Alliance with 9.3 percent and the Polish Peasants’ Party with 4.5 percent.

 

The results of the survey, conducted among 1031 Poles, resemble those of the presidential poll, which also points to a narrowing gap between the Law and Justice candidate for president Jaroslaw Kaczynski and Civic Platform’s Bronislaw Komorowski. (mg)
