One of Poland’s largest charities, the Great Orchestra of Christmas Aid will launch a special appeal on July 4 to help the victims of floods which have engulfed parts of Poland over the last three weeks.

The leader of the ‘orchestra’, Jerzy Owsiak announced on Polish Radio One, Thursday, that the charity - which usually raises money for sick children in the weeks after Christmas - will be holding a special day of fund raising this summer.

Money raised will go to purchase equipment needed in the clear up operation after the floods and for those in urgent need of assistance.

Thousands have been made homeless after flood water destroyed homes in Poland.

More information about the charity action can be found the charity website, wosp.org.pl (Polish). (pg)
