Flooded basements, broken roofs, fallen trees with power lines down - that’s what residents of Pomerania are woke up to today after storms ripped into northern Poland on Friday.

Two people were injured in the district of Tczew when a tree fell on a car. Fallen trees are blocking railway lines, disrupting services from Gdansk to Warsaw. The fire brigade was called out 430 times, with the most badly affected areas including Człuchów, Starogard Kościerzyna, Kwidzyn and Malbork.

The storms are now moving south and on Saturday, thunder, lightening and strong winds will visit the provinces of Lower Silesia and Opole. (pg)
