• Komorowski wins ‘health privatisation’ smear court case
  • 16.06.2010

Jaroslaw Kaczynski (Law and Justice) has to correct an untrue statement in which he accused presidential election rival Bronislaw Komorowski of wanting to privatize Poland’s health care services, a Warsaw District Court ruled, Wednesday.

The court also forbid Kaczynski from spreading untruths in the future about his rival.

Komorowski (Civic Platform) expressed satisfaction with the ruling. “I would like to warn [the voters] against lies which regularly appear in [Kaczynski’s presidential campaign. I would like to warn  Law and Justice politicians: don’t start mudslinging,” he said.

Bronislaw Komorowski took Kaczynski to court after the Law and Justice leader had suggested at a rally in the eastern city of Lublin that Civic Platform’s candidate wanted to privatize the Polish health service. “Voting on 20 June you either choose a public health service or private, privatized one, as my main political rival wants it,” claimed Kaczynski erroneously.
