Head of the Polish Peasant’s Party (PSL), Waldemar Pawlak has announced that he will support neither Jaroslaw Kaczynski nor Bronislaw Komorowski in the second round of presidential elections on July 4.

Pawlak, who is deputy PM in the coalition government led by Donald Tusk, voiced his decision after he was granted a vote of confidence by his party’s supreme council.

Speaking to journalists, Friday afternoon, Waldemar Pawlak said that he wants to leave the decision on who to vote for to the electorate, underlining that both candidates gave similar answers to a questionnaire sent to them from PSL headquarters.

The PSL questionnaire was aimed at helping Pawlak come to a decision on whom he would back in the second round of presidential elections due for July 4.

After Waldemar Pawlak attended the meeting of the PSL supreme council, he acknowledged that some of the council’s members were adament that Pawlak support either of the two candidates.

Earlier, the council gave Waldemar Pawlak a vote of confidence despite his poor result in the first round of the presidential elections on June 20, in which he came fifth, gaining 1.8 percent of the ballot. (jb)
