Sanitary inspectors have declared most of Poland’s bathing places as clean and safe.
A spokesman for the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate, Jan Bodnar, told Polish Radio that tourists can swim safely in the Baltic Sea as almost all Polish coastal waters meet the mandatory quality standards. Bathing is forbidden only in the port city of Gdynia.
Jan Bodnar says that tourists planning to spend a vacation in Poland can check the quality of coastal and inland bathing water by logging on to gis.gov.pl – a inspectorate‘s web site, which is updating information on bathing water quality every week.
Sampling is done once every two weeks throughout the bathing season. (kk)
