Leader of the Democratic Left Alliance, Grzegorz Napieralski is expected to announce, Tuesday, who he will back in the presidential run-off between Jaroslaw Kaczynski and Bronislaw Komorowski.
Grzegorz Napieralski, the leftist politician who came third in the first round of the presidential ballot on June 20, has so far refrained from stating his preference in the second round of elections set for July 4.
However, media speculation points to Napieralski not giving a definite statement as to whom he will back this coming Sunday.
Any decision taken would be the result of consultations with the leftist candidate’s electorate, whom Napieralski has been visiting whilst on a tour of the country following the first round of elections on June 20.
Last Saturday, Grzegorz Napieralski announced that he will announce his backing while on a visit to flood-stricken Wilkow, eastern Poland.
The candidate, who received almost 14 percent of the ballot, may have a decisive role to play in the forthcoming run-off between Kaczynski and Komorowski.
The announcement is expected to take place after the general council meeting of the Democratic Left Alliance, Tuesday late afternoon.
The gathering, billed for 18.30, will convene after members of the leftist party meet with representatives from the Women’s Party, the Green Party, and consult with trade unions. (jb)
