The two remaining presidential candidates, Jaroslaw Kaczynski and Bronislaw Komorowski will do battle in their last televised debate, Wednesday evening, ahead of the second round of elections on Sunday, July 4.

The debate, which is billed for 20.00 CET, will be prepared by three television stations and is to be staged in a similar way to the first debate which was aired last Sunday.

The presidential hopefuls will answer questions posed to them in three thematic blocks, answering three times on each theme.

Both Jaroslaw Kaczynski and Bronislaw Komorowski will be vying for the electorate’s vote, especially from supporters from the left.

Grzegorz Napieralski, the leader of the Democratic Left Alliance announced on Tuesday that he is refraining from public backing of any of the two candidates.

The move is a repeat of the Polish Peasant Party leader, Waldemar Pawlak’s decision not to back either of the two presidential hopefuls.

TV stations are hoping that the last debate between the candidates will be a success with viewers. Over 7 million Poles watched Sunday’s debate, despite a World Cup football match aired simultaneously. There are no matches billed for this evening. (jb)
